Tronster's Tools for VLOG and Blog

Equipment Check

Background

Here at Tronster.net, I try to provide information and entertainment.  I know your time is valuable, and I am just one choice in many to waste that time.  I greatly appreciate all of you that visit, search the site and check out my little slice of the Internet.

Today, I wanted to let you know how it has been going.  I have recently started using Rumble to post videos.  I am not one of those creators looking to quit my job and be full time on the Internet.  For one thing, you have to have a lot of traffic to make a living (and I don't).  I enjoy the adventure part so much, the content part is not my best work.  However, I do try to improve as time goes on. I ask that you look around the page, do a search for a topic and see if I have any thoughts or adventures to share.

Videos

I post most of my vlog videos on Rumble.  If you haven't set up a Rumble account, Tronster recommends you do.  Why?  It's up and coming, and there is a wide variety of quality videos on different subjects.  There is also a wide variety of low quality videos.  Such as mine, as I learn the techniques to produce better videos.  With an account, you do not have to post videos, but you can leave comments on videos.  Otherwise you just get to watch them.

Pictures

If you have spent anytime here are Troster.net, you will see I have taken a lot of pictures.  With different cameras in different scenarios.  I recent ly purchased a new camera, and I am still learning all the settings, features and best way to use it.  Below are links to the camera and some of the items I use.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

1. Adapter ring for EF Lenses
2. My Camera:  Cannon R10

My Thoughts

I am a fan of the cannon products.  This is my fourth cannon DSLR/mirrorless camera.  I started with the Rebel line, move up to the 30D, back to a rebel, and now I am on the R10.  This cameras is lighter and smaller than the others.  I find the buttons easy to find. Both on purpose and sometimes on accident.  No piece of equipment will beat practice and understanding of what you are trying to accomplish.  So I have read the manual. (briefly) I have made some setting changes.  I have a long way to go, and hope you will continue to follow as I learn more.

Thank you for stopping by Tronster, and I hope you will come again.

WTF: Well that's fantastic!!

The Situation

I try to maintain this site with some consistency.  Let's facing, writing a full post here, takes a little longer than writing a quick post on FACEBOOK.  I spent a few days researching if it was possible to link the two, fairly easily.

What Happened?

You see there are a few posts on the page that are blank.  BLANK.  That's like listening to the radio and hearing nothing.  Dead Air!  It turns out, the links or whatever, have been removed.  I am not a computer programing.  So I am not sure what exactly happened.  But I have no fear.  I will continue to post here and just link to the Facebook Fan Page.  At least that still seems to work.

Special Thank you!!

I want to thank each of you visiting the site, and let you know, I am aware I am breaking the rules of a successful blog.  (Or if you were to search, How to make money blogging).  I do not have a niche, just a diary.  I hope she find it entertaining and resourceful.

I want to thank you all for stopping by, and say, come back when you can.  Click follow.

Tronster’s 2023 Goals

Every year about this this time, or earlier, folks tend to make "New Year's Resolutions".  I am not one of those people.  I like to set goals for the year.  I find that having goals aligns bette with my lifestyle than "resolutions".  I can see how they can be considered the same things in certain circles.  However, I believe the goal setting on an annual basis is a good way to meet longer term goals.

I wanted to share my thoughts on Goal setting and offer some insight on how Tronster handles goals and achieves success.  (at least success in his own mind)

Five ways to achieve Goals

1. Write them Down!!

For crying out loud, write them down.  Don't expect to remember your goals all year long.  We all have lives, things we need to get done. Honey do lists.  Writing them down is a simple and surprising effective way to keep track of your goals.

2. Make them achievable!!

When you are writing them down, be realistic.  If you want to win the lottery, that is a great goal, however, what are the chances?  One in a few million?  Think about where you are and where you want to be.  You can make it a stretch, for some goals.  But it should be a reachable goal.  (or is you are the type, resolution)

3. Make them measurable!!

What does Tronster mean?  Well, here is an example.  Your goal is to be a better person.  Great!!  How are you going to be a better person?  Volunteering more?  Then you can make your resolution "I will volunteer 50 hours this year for a charity."  See, you will be a better person and some charity will be graced with your presence for 50 hours.

4. Be Accountable!!

Work with a friend, loved one, spouse, or the Internet.  Let someone know your goals and have them check on you every once in a while.  Sharing your goals (resolutions) will keep you accountable to your friends and family.  (or the internet, I hear some people are brutal on the Internet)

5. Keep Track of your progress!!

Keeping track of your progress will show progress and assist with motivation. Really it will.  I promise.  I have found throughout my days and years of life, keeping track has been one ways a can measure success (or sometimes failures).  Yes, you will see if you miss a goal.  But as you mark your goals off, you will feel accomplishment.  Which can lead to motivation to knock out the rest of the goals.

Goals for Tronster

So in the spirit of all I have said before, here are some of the goals Tronster has set for this blog.

1. Post at least 12 episodes of the VLOG. (you can see my first 3 already)
2. Post at least 48 times this year.  Look at my history, you see sometimes a make it sometimes I don't.
3. Finish the April A to Z Challenge
4. Increase the traffic by 50% to Tronster
5. Revamp the page and move off of Blogger/Google platform

As always, thank you for visiting my slice of the Internet.  I hope you will visit again, to check on my progress.  Feel free to share how you plan on accomplishing your resolutions this year.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is alway special for Tronster and his family.  This is the time, like an annual family reunion, that most of us can get together.  We all live in different parts of the South East USA, and Thanks giving is when we come together. It’s like any other family gathering, you take the time to welcome each other, and catch up on the family gossip.

My aunt always hosts the meal now.  She is centrally located for many of the families.  Christmas time we are normally all spread out.  But Thanksgiving.  Oh my Thanksgiving we come together to share fellowship and food.

There are 5 stages to a successful Thanksgiving gathering tradition for Tronster.  I wanted to share them with you for entertainment, and maybe some assistance on your next family tradition.

Coordination

For any successful gathering, there needs to be coordination.  Otherwise, you will have 5 turkeys and a can of green beans for Thanksgiving dinner.  My family utilizes a facebook group to keep in touch and coordinate such events.  This year, my cousin took the lead.  We are all invited, and then we post what is needed and what we are going to bring.  Someone will bring the Collard Greens, Red Velvet Cake, Deviled Eggs, casseroles, (Both broccoli and green bean), sweet potatoes and so on.  Once we have the list of volunteer stuff, we then assign the mandatory stuff. (Ice, forks, plates, etc)

Preparations

You have volunteered to bring a dish.  No matter where you are in the country, the grocery stores are packed.  The people in these stores are thinking the same thing you are, Thanksgiving.  A week, or maybe even ten days, seems to be the magic timeframe to hit the local stores around my part of the country.  Our dish this year, required a carefully crafted trip to Harris teeter.  When dealing with fresh vegetables, you have to gather the food quickly.  I think because of the options in the densely populated area, we have never had issues getting our food for thanksgiving.
Preparations include more than just the food.  Tronster will be traveling on Thanksgiving morning. This brings up decisions.  Which car to take?  Is there gas in the car?  How long to get to the destination?  Have we been there before?  What is the weather like there?
This year, we are gathering in a different location.  So I had to research how long it takes to drive, make sure the car had gas, and determine if i will need to stop.  Being prepared for a quick 1 day road trip is important to a successful, stress reduced, family gathering.

Travel

The car is full of gas.  The food is prepared.  The morning is approaching.  Sunshine and I get up early to arrive around 10:30.  A four and half hour drive lays ahead.  We will be leaving Casa De Tronster around 5:30 AM.  We have snacks, water, coffee and the GPS is set.  The good thing about leaving early in the morning is traffic is normally light.  Unless you have to navigate I95 any where around the capitol.  Turn on the radio for the traffic report, and something has happen on 95 to cause a 3 mile back up.  Lucky for us, we are using I81 this morning.

During the drive, you look for good gas prices and a place to grab some breakfast.  Now remember, you are on your way to the biggest meal of the year.  So eat your breakfast at a time it will not effect your appetite for a late lunch.

The Food

Our family gathering consist of a few basic things.  We catch up from the last time we spoke to to the relatives.  See how things are going.  We are a family of country folks, so we discuss such things as the last hunting trip, the new rifle, or even a fishing adventure or two.  Since we are out in the country, at some point, we will show off our shooting skills.

The last minute food preps are underway.  The turkey and ham are finishing up.  The table is set.  The blessing is given.  Then let the plate stacking, lip smacking, casserole slinging, fried cornbread and gravy smothered dinner begin.  We have found that quality paper plates are the best.  Multiple trips to the serving table is encouraged.  The first round, a little of everything. No need to hurt family feelings.  Second round, your favorites, loaded up.  Third round, the new stuff you did even know you liked.

Break-time, a little coffee and more conversation

Fourth round, desert.  Boy oh boy its desert time.  Get you some desert from the desert table.  Everyone has a specialty.  Pound cake, Red velvet cake, fudge and even some pie.  Help your self.  Has it gotten a little cold?  Need it heated a touch?  This is a no judgement feast.  You can throw the pie in the microwave for a few seconds, just to warm up the filling.

Left Overs

The family is full.  We have all flopped into our seating position.  Some will be spending the night.  Others, such as myself, will be doing home.  We continue to chat.  We go for a walk and photo tour.  We all gather on the steps and take a family picture.  Then its time to start the clean up.  We get up and revenge the remains fo the turkey circus, clean the ham bone, and judiciously separate the remainder of the food amongst the family.  We are going to turkey, ham, collards and sweet potatoes for a few days.

Tronster and sunshine load up, and make the drive home.  The mouth watering left overs are stored in the Frigidaire, and we head off to bed.

This is a thanksgiving story and tradition.  I hope you have all enjoyed it, and if you care to share one fo your traditions, let me know in the comments.

5 You Tube channels I watch

Welcome back folks.  Today’s post is about You Tube.  Well, not really.  Its about You Tube channels I watch.  I have looked up many things on you tube.  This includes classic commercials, old TV shows, and videos from friends.  I only subscribe to a few, and make comments on a fewer.

If there is a youtube video I watch all the way through, and it made me think, I will hit the “Like” button.  If i end up jumping off the video before it finishes and look for something else, then don’t.  I have subscribed to a few channels i keep going back too.  I figured I would share these channels with you and hope you will check them out, and if you enjoy them, give them a like or hit the subscribe.

#1  Gerry Dalura Sadorra

Gerry is my cousin (in law).  He started his channel a few years ago.  I just learned about it last year.  He calls it his living photo album.  On his channel you can see some of his memorable activities, along with a few tips and tricks.  It’s always neat to take a look at the work.  It is Gerry’s channel that has inspired me.

#2  Get out fo the house go fish

I was shopping for a boat, and this guy had completed many mods to his. It was the same boat i was looking to acquire.   Additionally, he explains the different places where he has fished, how he fished those places and the gear he uses.  I have watched many of his videos and then discovered he is in my old stomping grounds.  I have never met him, but he puts up good videos.

#3 TeddyCavachon

This channel is another friend of mine.  On here, he gives golf lessons, and trains his dog.  He has recently relocated and Sunshine and I will go to visit soon.  His lessons are short and address individual golf swings and corrective actions.  If you are a golfer, and want some easy to swallow lessons, from someone who has golfed a lot, this is the channel for you.  I watch it because he and his wife have always been good friends, and look to improve my game.

#4 Chunky Cats Fishing

This is pure entertainment for the fisherman.   Most of the clips he has posted were originally done live.  He is engaging with the folks that watch him.  I have not had the opportunity to watch him live.  What I find to be entertaining about the videos, is his excitement every time he gets a bite.  That excitement is what keeps fair weather fisherman, such as myself, going back for more.  He has a very unique style and his rods are off the hook man.  Check it out, give him a like or two

#5  ms_jhaycee21

This is a singer and entertainer in our local area.  She is very talented, and if you ever have the opportunity to see he, very entertaining.  This is another person I know.  Does not have many followers, and her videos are sporadic.  But her talent really impresses me, and did I mention, I know her?

None of the people know I am recommending them, so don’t be afraid not to visit.  But if you are killing time, I would suggest these channels.

How to add a speech bubble to a photo on a Mac.

How I learned to add a speech bubble to Photos

I am constantly learning new things.  Which is a good way to keep your mind active. As I try to expand the audience of Tronster.net, I started researching different methods to accomplish some of the tasks I can see myself having to complete.

A quick search of the internet, and I discovered you can add a speech bubble to Photos on you MAC with "Preview".  Who knew.  The directions I found were really dated.  However, they were basically the same, and I was able to try it out.  When prepping this post, I discovered this can be done inside "Photos".  Below is a quick guide on how you can accomplish the same thing.

Find the photo

Open your "Photos" app.  Mine is in the sidebar.  Choose you photo and click on edit.  I like to make a duplicate of the photo I will be working on, here's how:

To duplicate a photo in photo

          1. Open the Photo
          2. Right Click with a windows mouse
          3. Control click with a Mac Mouse
          4. Select "Duplicate 1 photo"

Open the Edit Menu

Get to the Markup menu

We will be getting to the "Mark-up" menu.  Select the three dots and the Mark up

This will open the menu for Mark Up.  I have seen this menu before when using screen capture on my iPhone, but never realized I could also use this on my Mac.

The image above I am pointing out the menu items.  To learn what each one of them does, it is best to play around in the image.  When I poke around on editing, I also make a duplicate copy of the image.  So as not to mess up my original.

Here is the "Speech Bubble"

On the top left, you can see your choices for dropping shapes into the photo.  The speech bubble is on of your choices.  Select it and it will appear on your image.

Thats it!!  So Simple.  Now you can  move the bubble around, you can move the tag end around.  Its great.  There are options to change the text color, the fill color.  The outline.  All from Photo.

I was glad to discover this, and should have discovered it long ago.  Just never needed it.  Now that I am going big time, figured I would share what i learned.

I appreciate your checking out my blog.  If you want to follow me through going big time, consider subscribing.  If subscribing isn't currently set up, when I figure it out, I will share.
