Pizza, Burgers or Fried Chicken

On my way home the other day, the radio station was asking questions of their listeners/guests.  I found it very very interesting for the topic.

If there was one of the following foods that could be made good for you, which would you pick?


1. Pizza
2. Burgers
3. Fried Chicken

Pizza

Oh how I love a good pizza.  I can deal with the Pizza from the delivery companies, and I have my favorites from them. (I am talking about Pizza Hut, Dominoes, and Papa John's)  But I prefer the pizza from the Italian places, or from a few local joints.  One of my favorites is the all cheese pizza with hot sauce.  One of our local establishments makes a four cheese pizza, they bake it with olive oil, and it is square.  Why?  Because they don't cut corners.  The sauce is a little sweet, which turns some people off, but they will put bacon on any pizza.  And we all know that everything is better with bacon.

Burgers

For me its more about cheese burgers.  I must say again, that the burgers you should consider for this question do not come from a drive through.  Gourmet burgers seem to be all the rage here in the DC area.  More and More burger joints are popping up all over the place.  $12 burgers from any place seems a little pricey.  However, if you like good burgers, you can get them at just about any sit down place and they are generally pretty good.  I can give an example.  I told all of you about the road trip to Tennessee last weekend.  We had dinner with a bunch of friends at Calhoun's.  I was not in the mood for ribs, I know hard to believe, so I ordered a burger.  The Kick'n bacon cheese burger.  Stacked with
jalapeños , bacon and pepper jack cheese.  Just looking at the monument to inefficiency,  I could hear my arteries hardening.

Fired Chicken

What can I say?  I think the Zack Brown Band says it best.  "I like my Chicken Fried"  Boy do I like my chicken fried.  My southern family has mastered the fried chicken. I eat this stuff all the time for lunch from the different fast food places.  I must confess, I do not order fried chicken from many other restaurants than the ones the have drive throughs.  I put hot sauce on this stuff too.  

Advantages for Pizza and Friend Chicken, is that stuff is good cold also, breakfast the next morning if you know what I mean.

Alas, we come to the point where we must make a decision.  If I could only make one magically good for my health, which one would it be?

I would have to vote for the ..............Burgers.  Yes ladies and gentlemen.  The Burgers would have to be my vote.

Election Time

Although I do like to follow politics, I hate election time.  Gone are the days of new funny commercials advertising some service or product, here are the "that guy is a crook" or "this guy is not good for _____" fill in the blank.  I guess it is one of the challenges as Americans to wade through all of the political messages and determine in our own minds who will serve our country the best.  I try to stay aways from politics as much as possible.  Do some research on each candidate, give credit and blame where it is due, and then place my vote. Whoever you are supporting this upcoming election, remember many of our fellow Americans have died to give us the right to choose who will be our leader.  So go out and vote.  Don't forget, your live is typically effected more by your local leaders than your national leaders.  So pay attention to those who will be closest to you for the next few years.  They are the ones who write the zoning laws, the local traffic laws and policy.

On the lighter side.  People who switch to Gieco sure are happy.  How happy are they?  Happier than a bodybuilder directing traffic.  That is a great commercial.
