Spread the Love

 Sharing Blessings

Thanksgiving is a time we can reflect on our many blessings.  My wife and I are very blessed. We have maintained our jobs during the pandemic, and we have remained healthy.  Our families are doing well and we are happy.  We have had many blessings this past year and feel that one small thing we can do, is share in those blessings.

One of the great organizations we work with prepares boxing for a local Social Services.  Although we do not include the turkey in the box. (Could you imagine if they thawed out before delivery)  However, we do include a gift card to cover a turkey.  Our team assembles the boxes, and then we deliver them to the family need.  At least that is how we did it before the Pandemic.  Now, we deliver to the Social Services office and they deliver to the families.

This new method forced us to modify how we do things.  However, only slightly.   Sunshine and I have been involved with the organization that provides these thanksgiving "baskets" for several years.  However, this we the first year we were able to join in this function in person.

Our team first purchased all the materials for the boxes.  This was done before Sunshine and I arrived.  The boxes are actually provided by one of our members.

We form try to keep the boxes consistent. However, sometimes we have to improvise.  A good example would be the "cookie tins"  Each box gets a tin of cookies.  However, this year our supply store did not have enough of the 2 dozen tins.  Therefore some got 2 tins of 12.

This was performed on a Wednesday, to be delivered to social services on Friday.  Sunshine and I went out on a "school" night and stayed up a little late to ensure we assisted.

During this time of Thanksgiving, it is hard on families.  Especially so during this past year of COVID pandemic.  Without the pandemic, this time of year is very difficult for many people.  However, if we have the opportunity to share our blessings, be there for friends and family, or offer an encouraging word.  I believe the return on the time spend will be great.

Thanks for stopping and checking on my adventures.

"L"- Living Well

You might think this is a post about health.  Well, you might be right.  I think everyone tries to live well.  Most things I have read on the Internet say living well is a game of moderations.  If you moderately eat food that is bad for you, it will only moderately effect your health.

Well here are some rules I live by for Living Well.

1.  Keep a happy spouse. (In my case wife)  The old adage of keep a happy wife is the secret to a happy life.

2.  You will never finish until you start.  To complete your dreams, bucket list, or long trip.  You will never finish those things until you start those things.

3.  Keep in touch with your friends and family.  These are the folks that will help you in your hard times.  They will enjoy your company and are always glad to hear from you.

4.  Leave home at home and work at work.  This may seem simple.  Many times it is not.  You could have a great thing going and then something weird happens at work and all of sudden your family is to blame. How does this happen?

5.  Be happy with what you have, and strive for what you want.

Do you have any advice for others to Live Well?
