Get out of the House

Well, teleworking and social distancing have really kept me in the house.  What is one to do?  I would normally have a daily adventure of commuting to work to break up my view of the house.  But now, just go from bedroom, bathroom, office, kitchen, living room, kitchen abs kitchen. (The kitchen is where keep all the snacks.).

The office is limited to 40-60% occupancy right now. So this past week I went in twice. It’s not as adventurous with so many people off the roads.   It was after work that Sunshine and I ventured out to a local hotspot for dinner with a few select friends.

The MGM grand recently opened up in our area. Sunshine enjoys having her picture taken in the lobby with all of their decorations. Which are seasonal. In the past we have made it out there to check out Christmas, but now it’s just not Christmas.

The lobby is set up with Chinese Fortune theme. At least that is what I would call it. Now, the short time Sunshine and I were there we took 68 photos with my phone, another 60 or so with here phone and at least 100 more with our friend’s.  I am only sharing these few.

The foot traffic right now is tragic. Because of this COVID restriction, there are not as many people out and about. A silver lining is to take wide shots with no photo bombers, no so hard.

The team at the MGM do a really good job.  So far each time we visit we have really admired the work

In the end, we enjoyed a good dinner at Ginger restaurant.  Do to government guidance we had to eat in a tent.  Again, kudus to the staff, the tent was comfortable and heated

I’m you have a chance to check it out, go sometime.  If you gamble there is a casino, the food can be pricey, but the service has always been top notch for Tronster

Thanks again fir stopping by my corner of the Internet.

COVID therapy

What can we do as citizens of the greatest country who are facing tough times because of a pandemic?  We can support our local businesses. That’s what. Locally I’ve seen several small businesses close up. I have had friends who have been laid off or furloughed for months. I’ve been blessed with a good job and the ability to keep working during these hard times. To spread that out a little I try to eat out once a week. With family in town this past week, we have been able to eat out a few times. This last time we went to the Juke Box Diner. The service was excellent. The menus is more international than I expected. Tronster would recommend this place to anyone.

We, despite what has been going on around us, can make a difference if we try. Be kind, remember God is in control, and have a great day.

Thanks for stopping.

Copping with COVID

We all have had challenges facing us during this pandemic.  This is not a woe is me post. This is a post talking about how I am working at home in support of this great nation.  One of the advantages of having to stay away from the office is access to my kitchen.

My smoking hot wife was home too. That means I get to enjoy great company and great food. Normally I would be in the office having a poorly made breakfast sandwich from the jiffy mart store in my building.

So as a positive from the current circumstances, I get more time with my wife and I get a good breakfast

Thank you for stopping and reading my corner of the Internet.

Teleworking

Family, friends, countrymen,

We are facing one of the greatest challenges I have seen in my lifetime.  The Wuhan Coronavirus.  Tronster, as many of you, has been forced to change his methods.  One of those changes has been not going to the office.  However, it is not paid time off, it is TELEWORK.

Why do we telework?  In my case, I generally do not telework unless there is a specific reason.  Right now, the reason is social distancing from my co-workers.  So of you may be thinking, thats great, I don't like those people anyway.  In the past, the only reason I would work from home, was to receive so great purchase I made online.  You know, the magical box from your favorite retailer.  Other not so fun reasons I have used is to get my vehicle state inspection or a dentist appointment.

I wanted to go through some of the good things, bad things, and challenges I have faced with telework.

The Pros for me may not be the same for you, but you can mention them in the comments if you like.  I live 27 miles from my office.  On any given Sunday, I can drive there in about 35-40 minutes.  However, my normal commute is closer to an hour to hour and ten minutes.  In addition, I have a flexible schedule.  Being an early riser means I can start working earlier.  Which means I can finish earlier.  Combine these all together, I can be done with work for the day around 2 PM.  With no commute.  That is definitely a plus.

With any given work situation there are always challenges.  For me, those challenges force me to try and remove distractions.  Like my two puppies.  Seen here taking a break from barking at my neighbors. This makes it difficult to focus on the task at hand.  I have found, mixing the stuff in my office from work and office from home to be a bit of a challenge as well.  At work, I have a clean work area with dual monitors and a printer.  I make it at the house.

I have also faced a few cons when working from home.  My job is very person to person.  The phone sometimes just does not communicate as well as if I were standing in front of my client.  Email is great, but being a horrible writer, details are occasionally missed.  The other con, is my refrigerator full of great food. OMG!!  I think I have put on 5 pounds just being able to get up and fix a grilled cheese, grad a plate of home made cinnamon rolls, or a bowl of ice cream.  I don't walk around as much either.  Good grief.

I hope all of you stay safe.  Let me know some of the reasons you Telework, and any challenges you have had to address.
